Amazing Los Angeles Race made a stop at Powersurge for some fun head to head competition.12 teams of hedgefund managers looking  to celebrate their friends birthday descended on Powersurge to compete for the clue to their next destination. Teams sprinted in ready to take on the four challenges: the Hula on Wii fit plus, Home run hitter, Bowling on Wii sports, and finally a round of Halo firestorm on Xbox. If you’re new to The Amazing Los Angeles Race®, teams of 2 – 8 people meet at a common location — to be revealed upon confirmation of your booking. There you receive the first of a series of devious clues. The clue leads you to a second location and another clue, then to a third, and so on. Since this is a tourist friendly race, the locations include some of LA’s most popular sites. The team that solves all the clues and crosses the finish line in the least amount of time wins. At the finish line all teams meet for an awards ceremony, with complimentary snacks and beverages. Except for the first clue, the entire race is run on foot (or public transportation). From intro to finish, the entire experience is about 4 – 4.5 hours. So, it’s perfect for visitors in search of the coolest tour ever.

LA Asian Pacific Film Festival holds their Gamers night party at Powersurge

Hosted by Wendy Okuda, the star from the hugely popular web series “The Guild,” – Asian filmmakers got to stretch their gamer muscle Friday April 29th at Powersurge. The most competitive game of the night: COD BLK OPS but the machine gun fire was drowned out by the Lady Gaga blaring in the Dance off on XBOX Kinect’s Dance Central. With plenty of Libations courtesy of Sapporo Breweries and Stella Artois, the night had some fantastic moments while Hong Kong cult classic “Super Cop” played on the Giant screen. It took raffles for some really cool swag: shirts, hoodies and caps from LA hip hop brand Akufuncture, to get some of the guys to put down their controllers during a highly contested Smash Bros Brawl. But we wont say anything about the Rock Band ensemble hiding in the back, they know who they are.
