“This is an amazing spot. It’s beautiful inside and everything is brand new and state of the art. It really looks like a hip art gallery in here with the way the screens and playing areas are set up. The people who work here are friendly, knowledgeable, and video game lovers themselves. I’ve been addicted to the Kinect and playing here whenever I have a break at work (I work in the plaza). ”

“Come try out this place and support this little gem! it’s not your typical video game arcade! Much more upscale with the newest home console games to play on multiple 37 inch screens, 82 in screens, and a 154 inch screen! They’ve got munchies and drinks too if you want to hole up here for a while.”

“I hope PowerSurge stays around forever. I don’t know any other place like this and even regular video game arcades are a dying breed nowadays.”

While waiting for our movie at the bridge at the Promenade at Howard Hughes Center, my friends and I noticed a sleek new space on the first floor of the complex.

curiosity took over and we couldn’t help but take a step inside…

THE SPACE;

It’s layout can best be described that of a trendy art gallery except rather than painting/artwork and it had instead dozens of 37″ plasma screens alongside several larger wall projections.  There was a semi-private area enclosed on the middle of the floor that allowed for private parties.  The entire wall looked like plywood for an industrial feel.  They were very thoughtful in that the entire floor is installed with the kind of rubber mat you find at playgrounds, or in restaurant kitchens.  It’s a soft surface which makes it easier on the feet and spine after standing for long hours.  They had large ottomans clustered in islands as well to sit on.

The entire room was very well decorated, brightly lit, and very clean!

WHAT THEY OFFER:

They offer Wii remotes or Xbox remotes for rent by the hour to play on their screens.  It is at 8$ per hour, which is a great deal considering I spend twice that amount, per hour, at DnB’s everytime I go!! I think they have a discounted rate during certain hours as well…

I am not a  ”hard-core” gamer but I enjoy a little Wii action or guitar hero ballad what not every now and then, and to me, it seemed like they had every game I would want to play!  Multiple full rock band set ups, several tvs tuned in to various Wii games, super smash bros… etc. etc.  Awesome selection!

The People;

GREAT service, everyone was very helpful in explaining the concept of the business and what they offer.  The guy we talked to was named Stephen, he was very nice.  I can imagine this as a fun place to go with friends, on a date, and at the same time it would be a fun and safe environment for families, kids, or siblings!!

This place is fantastic! We had a birthday party there with a bunch of teenagers. Who knew the kids would love it so much?! The staff is amazing. They are super knowledgeable on each game and willing to demonstrate how to play. Let me tell you, the girls loved watching the staff show them how to play the dance game! Next thing we knew, the entire party was dancing to Beyonce’s Single Ladies! The party came with free soft drinks and cookies, plus we had pizza delivered. It was reasonably priced and the kids had a terrific time! The staff does all the set up, serving, and clean-up, so it is an easy to enjoy party for us parents! I recommend this place for parties or even just for after-school fun!
